How do I cite in Chicago or Turabian format?

Answer:

Quick Help with Chicago Style:

Chicago style papers use either Notes-Bibliography or Author-Date reference systems. Check which version your instructor requires.

Notes-Bibliography
  • Uses in-text superscript numbers that correspond to footnotes or endnotes sections in the paper.
  • In the bibliography, entries are listed by author in last-name, first-name order and the main elements of the citation are separated by periods.
Author-Date
  • In-text citations povide the author's last name, publication year, and page number in parenthesis: (Smith, 2019, 10).
  • Bibliography items are presented in alphabetical order by the first author's last name, or, if no author is listed, by the first element of the citation (generally the title).
  • Use hanging indents.
